Deprived Youth Service was established in February 2007, by two young individuals in Lamontville who were concerned about the rate of teenage pregnancy, school-dropouts, HIV infection, and lack of socio-economic skills, drugs & substance abuse. Itwas registered as a Non Profit Organization under the Department of Social Development in 29 September 2009.
JMMMC is the structure that was identified by Head Office Youth Directorate in May 2013. The aim was to establish the Youthcentre that will address the challenges faced by the youth of EThekwini South District.
Deprived Youth Service is an NPO that was identified within ward 74, mandated by the Department of Social Development tooperate at JMMMC to implement Youth programmes and also mentor the youth of EThekwini South District.
The key challenges faced by the youth are the lack of access to valuable information, to enable them to access livelihood opportunities, which include access to higher education, employment opportunities and the knowledge of starting income generation projects.

To facilitate youth development programs through educational enrichment, entrepreneurship and information
Dissemination. This will be in association with strategic partners for the benefit of young people in South Africa.

To be a hub in youth development for a better South Africa.
